Welcome

The Central Archive of the General Directorate of the National Archives corresponds to all the tasks and powers established in the Law of the National Archives System and its Executive Regulations, in particular article 42 of said law.

Functions:

• Centralize the entire documentary heritage of the institution's dependencies and offices, in accordance with the deadlines for remittance of documents.
• Gather, preserve, classify, order, describe, select, manage and facilitate the institution's documentary heritage.
• Ensure the application of archival policies and provide technical advice to the staff of the institution that works in the management archives.
• Collaborate in the search for solutions for the proper functioning of the central file and the management files of the institution.
• Integrate and coordinate the Institutional Committee for the Selection and Elimination of Documents in order to evaluate and determine the administrative and legal validity of the documents, for the presentation of Tables of Periods for the Conservation of Documents of the institution and the realization of consultations regarding documentary selection, which are submitted to the approval of the National Commission for the Selection and Elimination of Documents.
